FAQ
1. What is a group break?
Is the splitting of a box, boxes or a case of cards between multiple participants (“spots”). The volume of “spots” in a Group Break is often reflective of how many teams are in that particular sport or product. In any group break, you will be entitled to all cards that are assigned to the spot you have purchased.
Joining a group breaks is often a more economical approach to targeting specific players, teams, and hits as participants can divide the cost of more expensive products.
2. What types of group breaks are available?
A. PYT = Pick Your Team. You will receive all cards for the specific team you have purchased. (E.g. By purchasing the Real Madrid spot, any Real Madrid players labeled in the product – Zidane, Jude, Cristiano, Guler, and more for 2023/24 Topps Chrome). Spot price is adjusted based on expected value of hits.
PYT can be applied as Pick Your Player (PYP), Pick Your Division (e.g. UFC), etc., depending on the sport or product.
B. Random Team = All participants will pay an equal spot price, while a random number generator (random.com) will be used to allocate specific teams randomly to each participant. This approach is usually beneficial for those targeting to purchase an expensive team/spot at a cheaper price based on chance.
Tier Random Team = A variation of random team breaks whereby each collector is guaranteed 1 top 50% team and 1 bottom 50% team (in value).
As is for Pick Your Player and Pick Your Division, random team breaks may be adjusted to Random Player or Random Division breaks based on the sport or product.
3. Is there a possibility I can hit a card more valuable than the spot price in a group break?
Of course, that is the whole point of group breaks! Collectors often pull hits (e.g. rare autograph cards) that are substantially more valuable than the spot price.
This again is a relative advantage to purchasing a personal box, although the latter is advantageous in that you can keep all hits from that box.
However, do keep in mind that there definitely exists a chance of not pulling cards amounting to a value equal or greater than the spot price purchased.
4. Does Gulf Sports Cards only provide group breaks?
No! We plan on selling packs, boxes, cases and even single cards on an individual basis.
In our opening month (August 2024), we aim to exclusively run group breaks to have as many collectors on board as possible!
5. How will my cards be shipped/delivered?
Upon completion of each break, please allow 3-5 business days for your cards to be shipped. All cards pulled in your assigned break spot will be delivered.
All cards exceeding AED 15 in value will be shipped in a card sleeve and a rigid top loader, while cards valued under AED 15 will be delivered in team bags.
